Why it helps

Hours of sitting can leave the front of your hips tight. A gentle stretch may help you stand and walk more comfortably.

How to do it

  1. Kneel on one knee with a cushion under it, other foot forward.
  2. Tuck your tailbone slightly and shift your weight forward until you feel a stretch.
  3. Hold 60 seconds, breathe slowly, then switch sides.

Make it easier

Hold for 30 seconds per side in a standing lunge.

Make it harder

Raise the arm on the kneeling side overhead and lean slightly away.

Stretch gently and stop if you feel pain in your knee or back.
