Why it helps
Step-ups mimic climbing and are easy to scale. They train your legs and balance at once.
How to do it
- Stand facing the bottom stair, one hand near the rail.
- Step up with your right foot, then bring the left up.
- Step down and repeat. Do ten per lead leg.
Make it easier
Do five per leg.
Make it harder
Lift your knee at the top of each step.
Hold the railing and stop if you feel unsteady.
