Why it helps
Desk work and phones tend to round the shoulders forward. Stretching the chest may help you feel more open and upright.
How to do it
- Stand in a doorway with elbows bent at shoulder height, forearms on the frame.
- Step one foot forward and lean until you feel a mild stretch across your chest.
- Hold 30 seconds, breathing slowly. Repeat once.
Make it easier
Lower your arms slightly and hold for 15 seconds.
Make it harder
Try it with arms higher and lower, 30 seconds each.
Stop if you feel pain or tingling in your shoulders or arms.
