Do 8 reverse lunges on each leg
Step back into a lunge and return to standing, alternating legs.

Why it helps
Lunges work each leg on its own, which helps even out strength and balance. Stepping backward is usually kinder to the knees than stepping forward.
How to do it
- Stand tall with hands on your hips.
- Step one foot back and lower until both knees bend about 90 degrees.
- Push through the front foot to return. Do eight, then switch legs.
Make it easier
Do shallow lunges while holding a counter.
Make it harder
Hold a backpack with books in front of your chest.
Stop if you feel knee pain; ask a doctor if unsure.
