Why it helps
Focusing on a close screen for hours can leave your eyes feeling tired and dry. Looking at something distant lets the focusing muscles relax.
How to do it
- Pick something about 6 metres (20 feet) away, such as a tree or far wall.
- Look at it for 20 seconds and blink slowly a few times.
- Go back to work and repeat once an hour.
Make it easier
Do it once today when you notice your eyes feeling tired.
Make it harder
Set a timer and do it every 20 minutes for the rest of your workday.
