Practise previewing before you read

Skim headings and first sentences before reading in depth.

Why it helps

A quick preview gives you a map. It helps you understand and recall the full text.

How to do it

1. Scan headings and summaries.
2. Write two questions you want answered.
3. Read and look for the answers.

Make it easier

Skim the headings only.

Make it harder

Summarise afterwards in three lines.
