Sort your downloads folder

Delete old installers and file the things worth keeping.

Why it helps

Downloads is where files go to be forgotten. Clearing it frees space and helps you find the file you need.

How to do it

1. Open the downloads folder and sort by date.
2. Delete anything older than three months that you don't recognise.
3. Move useful files to proper folders.

Make it easier

Delete only the ten largest files.

Make it harder

Also empty the trash or recycle bin.

Don't delete files you don't recognise from system folders.
